Texas 2013 Day 6: Breakfast Tacos, Bakery, and Boots

This morning we headed to a great little hole-in-the-wall place called El Tejano #2, a very welcoming and low-key (but excellent) place for breakfast tacos. They were super cheap and super fantastic. We put some money in the jukebox and played some Mexican polka music and some Santana while having our awesome breakfast. I had Nopales and Egg, and Potato and Egg. Nopales is a vegetable made from the young pad segments of prickly pear (cactus). It was all very tasty.

After that great breakfast, we headed to Naegelin's Bakery... a place as old as CANADA!!! And the oldest bakery in Texas. It was totally stellar. That's also where the strudel was from that Frank's Dad bought for us, and also the amazing lemon pie we had back at the lake house. Ohhhh so amazing. I got cinnamon bread and a peanut butter cookie.

Unicorns!
Then... to the outlets!

First stop was a brand new Luchesse cowboy boot outlet. It was not quite set up yet but it looked amazing and we will probably come back there later in the week to get my cowboy boots. We then headed to Cavender's boots, where I got a pearl snap shirt, which is very Texan! There was a guy working there who was chatting with us a bit, and was wearing a hilariously awesome massive American flag pearl snap shirt... the stars and stripes literally emblazoned across the entire shirt. He was about our age, and asked Frank at one point where he was from. Frank said he had moved from Texas to California. Without skipping a beat, the guy responded, "Oh, I'm sorry!" with a total straight look on his face. It was priceless.

Pretty cool options
Then off to the Adidas outlet, where I bought some super bright yellow casual shoes. I looked at a few more outlets, Tommy and Disney Store and a few others. Fun stuff.

Back we went after that to the lake house and chilled there for a short while before heading back to Frank's parents' house for a nice long visit. We had a great time chatting, and I managed to get a hold of Grey-C the cat for a while and pet her for a bit. That cat is awesome.

Haha, after the dinner we had tonight, I think this might be true
Frank's Mom knocking it out of the park, again
We had some truly excellent beef stew that Frank's Mom had spent a long time making for us. It was definitely made with love!! It tasted GREAT. What a meal. I joked after taking the first bite, "Ok! That's it! I'm moving to Texas!" We had some great wine too, and then headed to Austin to pick up Michal at the airport! She is gonna be here for the rest of the week, which is so awesome. Then back to the house for ice cream and some chillin' out.
